Liz Almeida-Sanborn, MS, PT, is President and founder of Preferred Therapy Solutions. Liz is a recognized leader in sub-acute/long term care rehabilitation management as well as Medicare reimbursement and compliance. Liz is a physical therapist who has held a progression of senior level operations positions during her 20+ years of experience in the post-acute rehabilitation industry. As a recognized expert in Medicare reimbursement and practice regulations, Liz has spoken extensively on the topics of financial, clinical, and operational reimbursement issues relating to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), hospitals, home health agencies, and outpatient clinics. She plays an active role in both state and national healthcare associations. Liz has also served as an adjunct professor for the Springfield College Physical Therapy program and sits on various Boards at the College. Her passion for clinical excellence combined with her extensive industry and management experience led to the development and success of Preferred Therapy Solutions. At the heart of what the Preferred Therapy Solutions’ team does each day are Liz’s principles of integrity, dedication to exceeding expectations, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.
Jodi holds a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy and brings over 15 years of experience in the long term and post-acute rehabilitation industry. Prior to joining Preferred Therapy, she held various management level positions in the post-acute industry. She is an active member of multiple organizations supporting our practice setting at both the state and national levels.
Jodi plays an integral role in the success and rapid expansion of Preferred Therapy Solutions. She provides senior leadership to a regional team across the Northeast and is responsible for day to day operations. With her extensive and diverse operational management experience and regulatory knowledge, Jodi provides her customer base outstanding clinical and financial outcomes. She advances the company’s values and mission and is singularly focused on quality, innovation and clinical excellence.
Matt has been with PTS since 2004 and brings over 15 years of management experience in the post-acute healthcare industry. As Vice President of Strategic Development, Matt oversees financial, clinical and compliance operations throughout the New England Region of PTS. Before assuming this role, he served as a Regional Director of Operations and Rehab Director. Matt combines his clinical and operations experience with his vast knowledge of regulations, compliance, and reimbursement to lead the successful operations throughout his region. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University and has experience in sub-acute, long term, and outpatient rehabilitation. A member of the National Association for the Support of Long Term Care, Matt is involved with legislative and regulatory matters impacting service providers in the post-acute and long term care settings.
John has spent the last 20 years working in the healthcare industry in a variety of sales leadership positions. John’s career started as a PTA treating patients in both outpatient and skilled nursing facilities until he transitioned to the non-clinical side of the business. He has held various sales and operations positions starting in the recruitment space managing multi-site operations for large per diem and travel companies. John then transitioned and worked for 10 years in the DME industry as Vice President of Sales responsible for mentoring sales professionals and expanding into new markets. John currently serves as our Vice President of Business Development responsible for expanding Preferred Therapy Solutions footprint and developing relationship with key decision makers. John is actively involved in all the Skilled Nursing associations throughout New England, NY and NJ.
In his free time, John volunteers coaching his two sons and serves on the Board of his children’s Baseball and Hockey programs. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science from Central CT State University with a Physical Therapist Assistant License from Bay State College, as well as an MBA in Healthcare Management from the University of Hartford. He resides in Farmington, CT with his wife Lisa, sons Nick and Jack and dog Charlie.
Maria Maggi is the Vice President of Compliance and Compliance Officer for Preferred Therapy Solutions, Maria brings 25 years of experience as a Physical Therapist including 21 years in geriatric rehabilitation to her role overseeing the constantly changing legal and regulatory compliance requirements for sub-acute/long term care facilities.
Maria, a recognized leader in sub-acute/long term care rehabilitation management as well as Medicare reimbursement and compliance, has been an invited speaker at the Massachusetts Senior Care Association and LeadingAge conferences.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Lowell in 1989. She is a member of the National Association for the Support of Long Term Care, AHCA, and various State Associations in CT, NY, VT, NJ, NH and MA.
Joining PTS in 2009, David Colella has served as Vice President of Finance/Controller overseeing all aspects of the Accounting and Finance departments.
David has over 15 years of experience in Finance and Accounting in the healthcare industry including managed care, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. David has held various positions within the long-term care industry, including Financial Analyst, Director of Reporting, Corporate Controller and Senior Accountant. Before joining Preferred Therapy Solutions, David worked for large skilled nursing facility chains at various levels of management in accounting, reporting and financial analysis. David received his B.S in Finance from Southern CT State University and is a member of the Association of Long Term Care Financial Managers. Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Sam Vogt is responsible for oversight of Human Resources and Recruitment functions for Preferred Therapy Solutions. Sam has worked in various progressive management roles for the past 10 years within the healthcare industry. Prior to that, Sam worked in the field of mental health/education in California and later Connecticut. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts and holds “Professional in Human Resources” (PHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute. Sam’s goal for the Human Resources Department is to consistently ensure that Preferred Therapy Solutions takes exceptional care of its people, is in line with best business practices, and continues to attract the highest level of talent and character in its employees.
Sam has been actively involved with LeadingAge CT, and has participated on community healthcare and business advisory boards in Hartford County.
Lou-Ann Worsham is a seasoned administrative professional who has been working in the health care field since 1998. She has been with Preferred Therapy Solutions since its formation in December of 2003. As the Director of Administrative Services, she is part of the Senior Management Team aiding in making decisions on the company’s current functions and the company’s future endeavors. She interacts directly with existing clients with a focus on customer service. She manages the administrative staff and their functions, as well as leading the monthly billing process.
